Monterrey Native Spotlighted for UTPA Tech Startup

The University of Texas-Pan American’s first technology startup company can teach the nation how foreign-born graduates can reinvent the U.S. economy, according to a report from the Partnership for a New American Economy.

That organization — whose members include hundreds of mayors and business leaders from across the country — highlighted the McAllen-based FibeRio Technology Corp. in a June report titled “Patent Pending: How immigrants are reinventing the American economy.”

The Partnership shared the story behind FibeRio, which stemmed from the research Mexican-born UTPA professor Karen Lozano completed with colleague Kamal Sarkar.
