New York Post: Bloomberg-backed group plans pro-immigration campaign

A Michael Bloomberg-backed group is organizing a massive pro-immigration campaign this week, a direct challenge to President Trump’s hardline stance on the controversial issue.

“Immigration is top of the agenda politically, but the national discussion often bears little resemblance to the facts on the ground,” said the Partnership for a New American Economy’s executive director, Jeremy Robbins, according to Politico.

“In community after community and industry after industry, immigration is helping America and American workers,” he added.

The effort is one of the first well-funded, well-organized nationwide efforts aimed squarely at stopping Trump from carrying out a temporary travel ban and building a border wall between the US and Mexico.

The campaign features 100 nationwide events, beginning this week, along with an ad campaign with spots airing in Houston, Dallas, Las Vegas and Miami.

It also features the coming together of Republicans and Trump supporters to help push for immigration reform, rather than the deportation of illegal immigrants.

It is unknown how much the billionaire ex-Big Apple mayor has donated to the group — or how much he’s willing to spend to stop Trump’s immigration efforts.
